About the Study

Who runs this study?

We are the Experimental Therapeutics & Pathophysiology Branch (ETPB) at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), a major research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Our research program conducts clinical research studies on mood disorders (including: major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and suicide) with the goal of creating better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat mental illness.

What is this study about?

The goal of this study is to better understand mood and anxiety disorders and to see if you are eligible for other ETPB research studies.

What kind of commitment is involved?

For this part of the study, you do not need to come to NIH. You will complete an online questionnaire through the Clinical Trial Survey System (CTSS) online database. Answering all questions takes approximately fifteen minutes.

If your initial information in the online questionnaire appears to make you a good fit for ETPB studies, you may be asked to complete a phone interview. After completing the phone interview, you may be asked to come to the NIH Clinical Center for an in-person assessment.

By participating in this study, you are not obligated to join any other study.
