Introduction

The purpose of this study is to address a knowledge and information gap in the field of sleep and neurodevelopment in infants and children. We're especially interested in learning more about children with known risk factors for neurodevelopmental or neuropsychiatric disorders.

We will be studying the children over time. Study participation includes three or four study visits, depending on which group the child enters. Study visits will occur every 8 months to 1 year for a total participation time of 2 years.

Each study visit will last about 2 days. The assessments during the study visits will include a history and physical examination, neurodevelopmental assessment, and an overnight sleep study, including a 1-night inpatient stay. If possible, a brief 20-minute awake EEG recording will be completed during the daytime before the sleep study. A blood draw will be collected at one of the first visits.

This study does not involve treatment. All procedures within the study will be completed for research purposes only, rather than clinical care.
