Introduction

Lymphedema is the accumulation of fluid in the interstitial space. Lymphedema can affect both upper and lower limbs. The lymphatic system imbalance can be due to several reasons and be presented in several grades of severity.

Lymphedema can lead to several complications that negatively impact people's quality of life. Depending on its severity, it can limit movement of the extremity involved, cause esthetic discomfort, limb deformation, and cellulitis as well as more medical expenses. Specific scales to measure life impact of lymphedema are scarce. The Lymphedema Life Impact Scale (LLIS) is widely used in English and other languages such as Turkish and Persian, showing good validity and reliance scores. However, this scale has not been validated in Spanish yet.

Validating this scale in Spanish will help expand access to this scale for patients with lymphedema, therefore decreasing gaps in their care.
